Who will accompany Brandon Williams as the Blazers’ second two-way contract?

After hiring Jared Rhoden, Portland signed two new “Exhibit 10” contracts that could be transformed into a “two-way contract”. The two players involved are Isaiah Miller and Excavator.

The first is an undrafted point guard in 2021 (24 years old, 1m83) who comes out of a season with 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals on average per game with the Iowa Wolves, in the G-League, and has recently participated in the Summer League with the Jazz.

The second is a much more experienced position 5 (29 years old, 2.08m) and better known on the NBA circuit even if he has only played 40 games there in his career. He has sailed a lot between G-League and NBA these last three seasons. We notably saw him in Utah for three small games in 2021/22.

The three players will have the opportunity to prove their worth during the next “training camp”. As a reminder, the Blazers already have 16 players (one too many) under contract for 2022/23.

Two-way contract : designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, to develop them mainly in their development league franchise affiliate but also up to 50 NBA games.

Exhibit-10 : gateway to the G-League, since this contract signed at the time of the “training camp” binds the player to the G-League team affiliated with an NBA franchise. The clause comes with a bonus of $5,000 to $50,000, valid only if, once cut, the player commits to the affiliated G-League team and stays there for at least 60 days. The clause also allows the NBA franchise to convert the contract into a “two-way contract”, prior to the regular season. If she does, the player receives the mentioned bonus.
