Since July 30, the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Robert-Cliche no longer exists. It changed its name to that of Beauce-Centre.

Our sector of the region finds the name “Beauce” in its appellation », rejoices the prefect of the paramunicipal organization, Jonathan V. Bolduc, in a video interview granted to EnBeauce.com.

This new name is the result of a request initiated by unanimous resolution of the council of mayors, on July 14, 2021, all renewed by the new council of mayors on December 15.

It was also the subject of public consultations where the population was able to express their comments on the proposed new name.

In the same vein, the territory’s economic development agency had already changed its name in September of last year, from CLD Robert-Cliche to Beauce-Centre Économique.

This is part of a territorial marketing approach, Beauce enjoying solid recognition outside and with which our world very proudly identifies as such. Our new name is already found in civil society, raised by various institutions and sports teams recalls Mr. Bolduc, who is also mayor of Saint-Victor.

He also wishes to point out that the change in no way diminishes the contribution of Judge Robert Cliche, who remains a well-known personality in Beauce while an important artery of the City of Saint-Joseph as well as Highway 73 already bears his name.

Finally, note that a new brand image and a renewed website will be unveiled by the MRC later this fall.

Ecocentre and bike path
Moreover, Mr. Bolduc confirmed during the interview with EnBeauce.com that at the end of August, he will hold a “shoulder talk” with his counterparts in the MRC to examine alternatives to the use of the ecocentre, located in Beauceville, for the disposal of waste hazardous household waste (RDD), agricultural plastics, construction materials and other bulky items.

Indeed, since July 1, the contract with Matrec has expired and the council of mayors has not accepted an extension of the agreement due to the 1,200% increase in costs, in addition to the cancellation of the free for the first 500 kilograms of material, which was in force for the citizens of the territory.

Among the solutions envisaged, a possible collaboration with the Aptas Group, a social economy enterprise in Sainte-Marie, which recycles household appliances, small electrical appliances, mattresses, agricultural tubing and boxes The prefect has already had a first meeting with the leaders and he will discuss it with the mayors. ” The way of doing (recycling) on the territory must be reviewed so that the ecocentre is what it should have been at the start essentially said the prefect.

Finally, Jonathan V. Bolduc hopes that 2022 will be the right year to complete the bike path, as the section between the Callway River and the southern entrance to Beauceville must be completed at the end of September.

Still for the cycle route, the MRC has just submitted a request for a grant to the government to finance, at the rate of 50%, a safe crossing for cyclists on route 173, at the Parc des-Rapides-du-diable in Beauceville. A tunnel under the road is envisaged as a structure for the passage of users, but the prefect would like us to find a much less expensive solution since an underground structure would require disbursements well in excess of one million dollars.
