Lucien Favre de retour à l'OGC Nice

Lucien Favre de retour à l’OGC Nice

Christophe Galtier no longer manages the first team of OGC Nice. This Monday, the Aiglons’ recovery was led by Lucien Favre, whose return the club is proud to announce.

His first visit to the Côte d’Azur remains etched in history. So when considering a future full of challenges, it is difficult not to mix ambition and feeling. The excitement felt by the entire red and black community at the mere mention of his name, for years, is a wonderful illustration of the attachment shown to him.

After two and a half seasons at Borussia Dortmund, one of the biggest clubs in Europe with which he won a German Supercup and finished 2nd after standing up to Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga, Lucien Favre is back at OGC Nice. His home. Where he has already led 99 matches and where he left his mark between 2016 and 2018, with poetry and efficiency.

In Nice, the Swiss clinched 3rd place at the end of a historic 2016-17 first season, building a team with a luminous style of play that pocketed 78 points. He achieved the feat of leaving Ajax the following summer, played the music of the Champions League before traveling to Moscow in the 16th final of the Europa League. Then finally, he failed a small unit of a 2nd rank qualification in Europe, after a less regular 2017-18 championship, where everything was decided on the last match in Lyon.

Arjan Peço and Christophe Moulin in the staff

Europe is what OGC Nice 2022-23 aims to find, with Europa League Conference play-offs scheduled for August. To fulfill this mission, perform on the national scene and give new impetus to its project, the red and black club has decided to trust an apostle of the game, unanimously appreciated by all of its employees. To carry out his mission, Lucien Favre will be accompanied by Arjan Peço and Christophe Moulin, who complete the current staff of the first team, and who, by their profile, will be able to revitalize the bridges between the pros and training.

OGC Nice welcomes them all!

“I am absolutely delighted that Lucien Favre is joining us. He is an experienced coach, who has had success in the Bundesliga, but also here in Nice. Everywhere he aroused respect and admiration. We like his way of developing his teams and fits perfectly with the vision we have at INEOS of the style of play we want for OGC Nice.”
