He was only at the start of a promising career. But Jaylon Ferguson died on Wednesday, without the precise causes of the death of the 26-year-old defensive end being communicated yet.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson”said the Ravens, his team. “He was a kind and respectful young man with a big smile and an infectious personality. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost far too soon.”
Drafted in 2019 by the Baltimore Ravens, he had played 38 games since then. Jaylon Ferguson joins an all too long list of young soccer players who recently died during their career.
- Jeff Gladney: spent by the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals, the cornerback died, along with his girlfriend, in a car accident on May 30, 2022.
- Dwayne Haskins: the 24-year-old Steelers reserve quarterback did not survive his injuries after being hit by a car on April 9. “I’m devastated, I don’t have the words to describe the sudden death of Dwayne Haskins,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said.
- Edwin Jackson: the linebacker passed by the Cardinals then the Colts was only 26 years old and had played two seasons in the NFL when he died in a car accident on February 4, 2018.
- Tray Walker: the Baltimore Ravens cornerback was just 23 when he died on March 18, 2016, following a motorcycle accident.
